How Fast Should a Business Website Load in India? Mobile Speed Guide (2026)

Google's speed thresholds explained in plain language, how to test your own site in two minutes, and the fixes that make the biggest difference on Indian mobile connections.

A business website should show its main content within 2.5 seconds, respond to a tap within 200 milliseconds, and not jump around while loading. These are Google's 'good' thresholds for its Core Web Vitals, and they're measured on real visitors' phones, so a site that feels fast on office Wi-Fi can still fail.

Google's three speed measures

MeasureWhat it meansGood
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)How long until the main content appears2.5 seconds or less
Interaction to Next Paint (INP)How quickly the page responds to a tap200 ms or less
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)How much the page jumps while loading0.1 or less

Test your site in two minutes

  1. Go to Google PageSpeed Insights and enter your home page address
  2. Look at the 'Mobile' tab and the section based on real visitors' data, if shown
  3. Repeat for your most important service page — it often differs from the home page

The fixes that matter most

  1. Compress and resize images; serve modern formats like WebP or AVIF
  2. Remove sliders and autoplay videos at the top of the page
  3. Cut unused plugins and third-party scripts (chat widgets, multiple trackers)
  4. Use good hosting with a CDN instead of the cheapest shared plan
  5. Set fixed sizes for images and banners so the page doesn't jump
  6. Load fonts efficiently and limit the number of font styles

Does speed affect rankings and AI answers?

Speed is one of many signals Google uses, and it rarely beats relevance on its own. Its bigger effect is on visitors: slow pages lose people before they read anything. AI crawlers also have limited patience, so a page whose text loads late may simply not be read.

Every Preevee website is tested against these thresholds on mobile before launch, and speed checks are part of our maintenance plans (₹3,000–₹8,000 a month for small sites).
