Frequently asked questions
How is SIP maturity calculated?
Future Value = P × [((1 + r)^n − 1) / r] × (1 + r), where P = monthly investment, r = monthly return rate (expected annual return ÷ 12 ÷ 100), n = total months. This calculator uses the standard SIP future-value formula.
What is a realistic expected return for Indian mutual funds?
Long-term equity mutual funds in India have historically delivered 12–15% CAGR. Debt funds typically deliver 6–8%. Hybrid funds fall in between. Use 12% as a balanced default for equity SIP planning.
Is SIP better than lumpsum?
SIP averages your purchase price across market cycles (rupee-cost averaging) and is ideal for salaried investors. Lumpsum can outperform if invested at a market low — but most investors can't time that reliably.
Are SIP returns guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund returns are market-linked and not guaranteed. This calculator shows projected outcomes based on the expected return you enter. Actual returns vary.
