How to Generate Quality Leads Using Google Ads in India
A campaign structure tested across 60+ Indian SMEs that consistently delivers ₹50–₹200 leads.
After running Google Ads for 60+ Indian SMEs across services, D2C, SaaS and manufacturing, we have a campaign blueprint that consistently produces leads at ₹50–₹250 each. This post documents it end-to-end.
Step 1 — Pick the right campaign type
For SMEs, 80% of budget should sit in Search (high intent). Use Performance Max only after you have 30+ conversions/month feeding the algorithm. Display and Discovery are awareness channels — skip them until you have predictable Search performance.
Step 2 — Build the keyword pyramid
- Tier 1 (highest intent): '<service> in <city>', '<service> price', 'best <service> for <use case>'
- Tier 2 (problem-aware): 'how to <problem>', '<problem> solution'
- Tier 3 (broad): never run for SMEs unless budget > ₹3L/month
Step 3 — Landing page > ad copy
A great landing page lifts conversion rate from 2% to 8–12%. Match the ad headline word-for-word, place the form above the fold, add 3 trust signals (clients, reviews, certifications) and offer click-to-call + click-to-WhatsApp.
Step 4 — Bid for value, not clicks
Switch to Maximize Conversions or tCPA after 30 conversions. Until then, use Manual CPC with bid caps and let positions stabilise.
Step 5 — Weekly optimisation rhythm
- Pause keywords with CPL > 1.5× target
- Add negatives from search-term reports
- A/B test one element per week (headline, CTA, hero image)
- Increase budget on profitable ad groups by 20%/week
